Residential Restoration Program

The City of Refuge Restoration Program offers men and women the opportunity to experience freedom from life-controlling issues. Modeled after Teen Challenge, the program’s philosophy is to identify and treat the root issues behind addiction and other disorders. Program participants work one-on-one with a mentor, where they receive a variety of teachings and trainings through daily Bible study, mentoring time, and life-skills development. Through this comprehensive process, individuals are encouraged to relearn their God-given identity and restore relationships that have been affected—with God, with themselves, and with others.

The restoration program teaches basic life skills by helping individuals learn to cope and manage real-life situations and challenges. During the restoration program, individuals are assigned to a variety of work projects including cooking, baking, cleaning, repair, construction, maintenance, and production assembly. The work projects are designed to teach work ethic while training individuals in specific trades to help increase their likelihood of becoming employed upon completion of the Ciudad Refugio restoration program.

Everyone is accepted

Our doors are open to all in need, regardless of socioeconomic background or financial ability. We recognize that we are the last stop for many and are committed to offering second, third and fourth chances to those who are desperate for hope and the opportunity for change.

A family in recovery

We believe that restoration and recovery is a process that involves the entire family. Where there is an individual struggling with addiction, there is usually a family in need of restoration. Once the family is restored, the chances that the changes achieved by the individual in recovery will last are greatly increased.

The Jesus Factor

Modeled after Teen Challenge, Ciudad Refugio offers a Christ-centered recovery model that fosters an environment focused on creating an authentic connection with God. The Jesus Factor marks the central difference between Christian and secular recovery programs. The strength of an individual's faith makes a significant difference in their recovery process and their ability to remain free from substance use and abuse over time.

Complete Restoration

Discipline

To be successful in life, one must have self-discipline. We teach this principle to participants through daily schedules, homework assignments, Scripture memorization, and more.

Work Ethics

We teach our participants to be good employees who fulfill their duties regardless of whether or not they have supervision.

Mentoring

We assign each participant a mentor to help and guide them through the year-long program with love, connection, correction, and discipline.

Goal setting

We help participants set and achieve vocational, spiritual, physical and mental goals

Healing

Most of our participants, although perceived as hardened people, have a tender heart with deep wounds, that is why we create a space not only for the Lord to touch and heal, but to sow truth in their lives.

Community

During the transition period, which consists of a period of 3 to 6 months after graduation from the program, we help graduates integrate and connect with the community, where they continue to grow in the Lord.

Restoration program facilities

Our facilities were intentionally designed for sustainability and to meet the needs of our various restoration programs. Solar panels, rainwater collectors, and more are some of the systems that are used to help the program run at a low maintenance cost. Another important aspect is that there are separate floors for men and women, each designed to use space as efficiently as possible. Each room has enough space for 6 people with their belongings, and each floor contains a bedroom and private bathroom for the leaders, most of whom are graduates of the program.

A home

We believe the Bible emphasizes the importance of family. We seek to make Refuge City a home for men and women in our restoration programs. Those who are involved in leading and serving in the programs do so with love, creating an atmosphere where program participants become family, encouraging and building one another up as we walk this difficult journey together. For many, it is the first time in their lives that they have experienced true, healthy, God-centered relationships.
